Default Engine pinging at WOT after G2 lid install...

Installed G2 lid and Grannatelli MAF this week. Have about 90 miles on the motor and the engine is still knocking horribly above 4k-rpm(read, I can hear it!). Only at WOT and it didn't do that with just the MAF/Ram air installed, only after I added the Lid. If I just run thru 2nd gear without my foot in it it'll go all the way to the red line without any audible knock. Is this normal for the LS1? Does it just take longer for the computer to figure out the new A:F ratio or do I need to dial up the fuel pressure. The MAF, FastToys Ram Air and G2 lid are the only mods I have so far in the horsepower category. i don't have any diagnostic ability yet so I don't know what the knock retard is at this point. Can anyone be of some assistance here? Thanks, Chris

I would try running the G2 Lid and your stock MAF. The GMAF may be at fault for causing you to run too lean. <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" />

Put the stock MAF in today. Still pinging wildly above 4000rpm! Runs great in the morning when the temp is 60F and pings at 85-90 on my way home. Going to add the 160 thermostat and bypass the throttle body coolant and see what happens. If it's still a problem I may have to pull the Fast Toys Ram Air and see if it goes away. Engine temp is up 5-10 degrees on the dummy gage however, it's there in the morning once it heat s up also so I'm not sure that's relevent. Have to wait till the 27th to get a buddy to run the Atap and LS1 edit on it. Any hints or things to look for up front would be appreciated. Thanks Guys, Chris

The issue is that you have more air entering the motor than the MAF is reporting due to the lid. More air means more load. If the MAF was reporting the air correctly, the PCM would interpret this additional air as more load on the motor and would reduce timing accordingly. You either need to put a MAF translator on to scale the air more correctly or use LS1Edit to recalibrate the MAF tables. You can confirm that this is the case by looking at you long term trims, I'll bet you are positive by at least 10%....

I recently had a similar problem. I put my stock lid on so I could have some warranty work done. After reinstalling my Directflo lid I had severe detonation. I reset the PCM and I haven't had a problem since.
