rev limiting in drive WTF????

Default rev limiting in drive WTF????

Hey guys,

My friend has an 02 A4 Hawk.

In drive, if he floors it, like in a race..
the car hits the rev limiter then shifts, by
it's dam self.

Anybody heard of this??? Can a dealer reflash
computer correctly????

you don't want an auto to shift at the rev limiter??

I really don't understand all of what is going on - you need to provide more detail for usefull help.

So is the problem that the car, in drive, is hitting the revlimiter before it shifts? If no check the tranny fluid level asap.

I think Cobrakid is trying to say that while in "D" which is 3rd gear it bounces off the rev limiter then mysteriously jumps into 4th gear or "OD". If the trans is in "D" I don't see how that could happen. BTW, I've never hit the rev limiter.
