Going to dyno Sat. Is it safe to use edit to lock car in 3rd gear?
I hate only having the dyno from 80mph up. (3200-6000)
I was thinking that we could change the shift points so that once my car got into 3rd gear, the PCM wouldn't down shift it.
But with a 4000 stall would that just smoke the tires on the dyno???

at WOT in the real world the TCC is not locked so doing so on the Dyno seems to me to be just a trick for more HP on a piece of paper.

Well, it's not a "trick" what I'm wanting to know is how my engine is running.
I want to run it with a locked TC, so that
1) dyno isn't thrown off by a TC flash with a TQ spike of 500 ftlbs. that's a dyno trick.
2) I want it to go more through the RPM range so I can wideband it and adjust the Air/Fuel the best I can.
3) and in the real world it's already at 4000 RPMs when it shifts into 3rd from 2nd gear.

Lee, the answer to your question is yes. You can setup the shifting in Edit to keep you in 3rd. I did it last time at the dyno. I'm sure the same applies to the converter LU (I have a lockup switch, so I didn't need Edit for that). I don't have my laptop with me, or I'd email you the file. May try paging Ragtop99. He usually has his stuff with him and he's done it too.
