do u need the cable for both atap & edit? I hopefully will be purcahsing both of these items in the near future and was wondering if the cables that come for edit and atap are interchangable. Just thought it would save me some money cause I know I can download atap off the net.

Re: do u need the cable for both atap & edit? I'm not sure about the new version of ATAP but I was told the old version won't work with the LS1-edit cable. On the otherhand I've heard EFI live 5 will work with the LS1-edit cable and you can get it packaged with the newere ATAP version so they might both be compatible. Someone else might be able to confirm this. I guess if you downloaded the software and didn't pay for the cable you would be stealing it in a sense. As for the stealing comment it was to my understanding that when you were purahsing atap the money was really paying for the cable, the software wasn't all that costly. I thought the software was avaliable for download on the atap website. oh well no big deal. Doeone try and give me a more solid anser to my question of atap and edit cable interchangability.

Re: do u need the cable for both atap & edit? LS1edit uses their own interface, totally different then the atap one so no as of now they cannot share the same interface, esp ls1edit since they have logic in interface to burn VIN into the interface.
Your not stealing anything for downloading that efi stuff for some odd reason they only give you a max of 5 seconds of recording time so your wasting your time downloading a supposed demo that will not show you it can record for long periods of time which is more real world.
I have a fully functional standard version and it fails within a few minutes so think before buying.

Re: do u need the cable for both atap & edit? So when you say they use different interfaces, does that mean I can't use the same cable that connects from the laptop to the car? hanks again for the help.
