EFILive5 User Guide Question
AutoTap seems so easy compared to this, but an earlier post I made indicates I may be getting some funny numbers from AT 2.02, so looks like I may need to do a crash learn course in EFILive.
Is there a more basic set of instructions for EFILive that what's included in the help file within the program? The last time I tried to use the program the default screen with the gauges on it was reading really screwwy numbers (it showed my idle speed at over 3,000 rpm instead of around 800). Also, when I went to the MAF PID there weren't any units displayed so I don't know what it was reading. This really makes me wonder how I will know if what the gauge is reading is really the right value or something else.
Any other newbies with this like me that has some good advice on how to get started and understand the minimum needed to get things set up?
Dennis
To change ALL your pids to imperial, go to the "PIDS (F12)" tab page and right click on any of the listed PIDs. Then select "Set all PIDs to imperial".
That will make sure all your PIDs will be displayed with US style units of measure.
Examples:
for RPM the Factor should be 0.25 and the offset 0.
for ECT the factor and offset will be 1 and -40 for metric (Celsius) and 1.8 and -40 for imperial (Fahrenheit)
Let me know if that does not fix the problem.
P.S. Unlike AutoTap you need to preselect the PIDs you wish to monitor before starting to monitor or log data. This is because EFILive needs to send the PIDs to the PCM so the PCM can send back "fast-packets" of information containing the values for those PIDs.
Once the PIDs have been selected you can start monitoring their values by clicking on the "start" toolbar icon. You can toggle logging on/off by pressing spacebar. When you want to tell the PCM to stop sending the "fast-packets" just press the Stop button.
Once you get the hang of it it is pretty simple - I hope <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Yea, I was scratching my head at first, until I changed to all imperial units!

Thanks Again,
Dennis
Glad that worked for you. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
We will certainly be adding that information to the documentation.
We will also be adding it to the FAQ.
When the software is installed the PIDs should not default to Custom. We are investigating why, on a small percentage of installs, the PIDs have defaulted to Custom. It may be a registry permissions issue with Windows.

Paul
