Hypertech causing a slight ping

Hypertech causing a slight ping I have a 2001 Z28 6 speed Camaro. The mods made to date are: MTI induction system, Flowmaster exhaust, 160 thermostat, Hypertech power programer III. The hypertech was the last mod. at which point the car was put on a dyno and put out 314 hp at 5700 rpm and 339 ft'lbs torque at 4000 rpm with the air temp 82*. On hot days >90* when i accelerate hard at about 5000 rpm i get a slight ping. The odd thing is that the ping isn't consistant in all gears. It seems to be more pronounced in second gear. I run 93 octane and am getting ready to switch to Sunoco 94 to see if that will help. Any feed back on how to correct this is greatly appreciated.
Re: Hypertech causing a slight ping I have the same problem. It was bad at first, but I called Hypertech and they had me send it back and they reprogrammed it to take a little timing out of it. It is better now - except on very hot humid days.
The biggest problem is the heat!! In the summer heat, I take out the power tuning for everyday driving and put it back in for the track. I also switched to NGK TR-6 (one step colder) plugs and I throw in a bottle of 104+ to race. This seems to work up to about 90F temps. At high temps, I don't bother racing - the times are way down any way, so why wear out the car.
Sunoco 94 did not work for me - I was told they raise their octane by adding alcohol - Hypertech recommends Amoco 93, and that is what I stick with.
If you call Hypertech and talk to them, they will probably reprogram it to take out a little timing - it is not doing you any good if you are detonating and you WILL destroy your motor!
