Default Whats with my damn O2s?

I installed a set of Hooker LongTubes about 500 miles ago. 250miles after install I got an SES light. The car was hesitating and missinga bit. So I scanned it and it said "B2S1 O2 heater circut failure." Ok, fine, so I replaced that 02. Now I get another 250 miles after that ... "HO2S Insufficent Switching B1S1 Fuel Control Shifted Lean (FAOSC)" What in the hell does that mean? I guess I have to replace that O2 as well? Someone enlighten me.

The computer checks the sensors to test their ability to switch from rich to lean and lean to rich in a specific about of time. I believe it is measured in milli seconds. If it switches, but not fast enough you get the Insufficient Switching Code. If it doesn't switch at all you'll get a different code.

Insufficient switching refers to the # of times the sensor switches from rich to lean. If the sensor switches less than 30 times in 100 seconds, you get the SES with P1133 (B1S1) and/or P1153 (B2S1).

The most likely cause.....you have an exhaust leak. The leak may not be visible or audible. Any small place where fresh air can be pulled in is enough to cause this. If you're using the Hooker y-pipe and the clamps they provide, that is likely the source of your leak. On each clamp look at the area of pipe just below where you tighten the clamp (under the stud). The Hooker-supplied clamps do not exert any force in this area.

I fought these codes for 6 weeks after installing my Hooker LT's. I finally welded flanges on the headers and at the back of the y-pipe. The sensors will also need to be replaced after you seal the leak.

Good luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Like ssman66 said you must replace the o2 sensors AFTER you have the leak fixed. You will kill any new set of o2's you put in the car. When you do fix the leak you will still show the code.
Guess you run rich and foul the o2's. I am not sure but that’s what I would think causes the o2 permanent damage

You might be able to seal the leak with wbweld (I have had good luck and bad luck with it) maybe I did not mix it right or something but it just fell off
