Default Laptop computer connections to .....

the car for Auto Tap and for LS1 Edit. What kind of connection is needed on the laptop for the cables that come with Auto Tapp and LS1 Edit, USB, serial, ????

Figure if I do break down and get a laptop and the programs, I better make sure I can hook up to the laptop with the right kind of port.

Thanks!!!

Almost all laptops have this except for some newer ones. If you buy a laptop without a serial port, you can buy a USB to Serial converter. I'm pretty sure that LS1 Edit uses a serial port also.

Yes, atap and Edit use a serial port. My laptop has a RS232 port that works for both my Edit and a-tap.

Some people have had issues with USB adapters not working with Edit. I would try and get a laptop that has a serial port to avoid this issue.
