SES light turned off??!!!!

SES light turned off??!!!! About 2 months ago or so, I had installed a cam 222/226 112,rods,springs. When I got the car back, the shop where I installed it at told me that my SES light would stay on because of a random misfire code that would be thrown with the computer. So like he said it stayed on. After a while the car seemed to be runing really rich, and not performing as I expected. Well As time passed, the car seemed to be perfoming a little better. About a week ago, I took off my K&N filter to clean it, Dumba$$ me forgot to put it on, and drove off. After I realized this, I pulled into K-mart and bought a fram to put in. Well a couple days later, with the fram, the light turned off, and the car runs hella lot better. Is this normal? Did the car finally adjust to the change? Re: SES light turned off??!!!! The SES light will come back on after few more ignition cycles. You need to have the random misfire code turned off in the PCM. Not a big deal.
Re: SES light turned off??!!!! IMO it is best not to turn off the random misfire code, but to tune out of it.
If you raise your idle, dial in your IAC's, and play with your low rpm timing, then you will no longer set the P03 code.
Certain SES lights will turn off after a given number of driving cycles. Running without your air filter may have temporarily lowered your IAC count(more air coming in for your current idle rpm) giving your car a better idle. If you had this better idle (read, no misfires) for a certain number driving cycles, the SES may clear on its own.
