Maft and its use
you need to find out if your runnin to rich or lean, via A-Tap or something like it.
MAFT will work great if you have the tools to use it with
In my car right now with my cam and other mods but no headers on there yet I actually have it set
to base zero ,wot zero.So right now it isn't doing anything for me but when I get those tts on it might be useful and plan on heads and nos and maybe supercharger who knows. You first look at ltrims on your scanmaster..watch them at part throttle acceleration and ignore them at idle or decel.Try to get them close to slightly negative or zero with the base and leave wot alone. And when you set the base it takes awhile.heard from 50 miles up to 200miles for the changes to occur.then when base is set and it may just stay at zero then set wot. This affects o2 right away.
Then watch for knock retard as you try a click leaner.if you get no knock retard still during your quartermile type runs then try another click leaner.Keep watching for knock retard..thats about all you have to do.02 will usually show about .890 or so sometimes a bit more or less. And they can read different depending on what gear you look at them in..I think best is to look at like top of third.Leaning out your car should make it faster but too lean and you hit knock retard.Dynos with widebands are the best thing but not everyone has one near them or can run back and forth every mod.And you may still need to go up or down a click in hot or cold weather.
Hot weather you might start getting knock at a setting that gave you none before so you would richen it up a click. This tuning stuff is not that cut and dry unfortunately.I usually really notice the car get slower though as I go up a couple of clicks and it seems to turn into super dog in hot weather if its too rich.Just my observations.
