I have a 98 LS1. Whenever I program my pcm with HPP3, the car randomly won't start. I had a problem for a while where my car mysteriously wouldn't start, for no apparent reason at all. I deprogrammed it, and it still wouldn't start. Because it was programmed back to stock and still wouldn't start, I figured it wasn't the HPP3 that was screwing with the pcm. I took it to the dealer and they said the pcm had a bug. They reflashed the pcm, and then the car started fine. It is definitely hypertech that is causing the problem, because I programmed it again today and now it won't start again. So what should I do? Send the hypertech back? I need to have the car programmed. Shifting at 5800rpms with a big cam is no fun at all.

I know what you are talking about. On 08/27/02 I had a simaler problem. My hhp3 locked up my car too.I had to have my car towed to the dealer to have the same thing done.If you have did alot of air induction mods. The hhp3 performance tuning will lean you out too much and slow you down.I know this from experience.Mine showed a fault and gave a 1-800-532-3351 Hypertech.I called and they tried to wiggle out.Finaly they agreed to send me a new unit.Send it back and demand a new unit.I would not install the performance tuning! You could use the other steps, rev limmiter, max speed and so on.Thats what I am going to do.There is a computer expert out in california who will custom tune your computer to match your mods.I going to send mine out there in a few weeks.I hope this helps you.

If you call Hypertech and explain your problem, they will have you send your PCM and the programmer back to them to be reprogrammed. You will have to do without a car for about 3-4 days, but it will only cost you the shipping charge and insurance if you so choose. (Ask me how I know) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Don't know if yours is used or not, but if it is, DO NOT tell them you bought it used.

HPP3 adjustments for tire size, gears, shift points (A4), rev limiter, fan turn on, shift firmness (A4), have been good.
HPP3 performance tuning = not so good (in my experience). Too many variables for their tuning to be other than hit or miss, IMO. (Not running them down, that's just the way it is). It's a good tool for what it is, but if LS1 Edit was out at the time, I would have went the extra $250 for it. To their credit, they seem to make good on pcm foul-ups.
