Which diagnostic tool?
Which diagnostic tool? I recently had SLP longtube headers installed in my '02 ss. After about 2K miles, the SES light came on and it's steady. I resetted the PCM, but the light came back on a couple of days later. So, I'm looking into buying the Autotap software/hardware. I'm not sure if I should get the basic Autotap (AutoTap Hardware and AutoTap for Windows with OBD II Generic Parameters) or the new one(AutoTap Hardware and EFILive V5 Pro with bi-directional controls). Re: Which diagnostic tool? I am fairly new and still learning, but I just picked up the EFI Live V5 and it is awsome! You can make temporary changes to your car, like idle speed, turn on fans etc... (which I haven't done yet) and then once you find the optimum settings, you can make them permanant with LS1 Edit. Also, you can diagnose and clear any trouble codes that come up...Like in my case I had a SES light after I did SLP LT headers, free flow cats and Y-pipe on my 02 hawk, It turned out to be the driver side rear o2 sensor (common) I cleared the code and it hasn't come on since! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Firebird]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" /> Also picked up the HPP3 and adjusted the tranny shift points/firmness etc...but did NOT do the power tuning because I am running lean...I need to learn more about changing air/fuel ratios on my car to optimum levels first...Good luck!!
Re: Which diagnostic tool? Thanks for the encouraging feedback. I will definitely order the EFI Live V5, and perhaps the LS1 Edit soon after that. By the way, how do you like your LT headers? the Pro version helps you diagnose problems with the cooling fan and a/c circuits (to name just 2).
