Default LS1 edit and Knock Retard

If I did everything I could to remove knock retard via LS1edit. Would you guys consider that dangerous on an N/A car? I was told that there is plenty of knock retard within the PCM to handle issues outside of what LS1edit can touch.

What about for a forced induction also?

I wouldn't advise anybody to remove KR unless they are making an all-out race car that lives on 110+ octane gas.

KR is there to protect your engine from self destructing, not to give us tuners a hard time.

If it is false KR that is killing you, desensitize the KR sensor in that RPM, and increase the gain. This way mild false KR will not be picked up, but real KR (greater than your false KR) will be dealt with quicker and more effectively.

Forced induction IMO should never be without some sort of KR monitoring. Detonation on forced induction will quickly DESTROY your motor/block/pistons/heads/budget.

I would never remove it myself either.

However there is a tuner out there that is removing it from Forced Induction applications and I warned him about this. His response was that I was unaware of what really happens in the PCM outside of LS1edit. Which honestly from a knock retard standpont I don't have the knowledge since I never had a knock issue on my ventures with LS1edit on my car and therefore never researched this before.

Anyone else have an opinion on this? I want to either validate he's correct or warn him off VERY strongly from making these changes to his customers cars. I don't want to see melted pistons and cracked ringlands out there.
