Default LS1 Edit cannot eliminate DTC's. Carputing won't fix it.

Read for yourself. Here are the emails I exchanged with Ken Kelly on an issue in which LS1 edit will not eliminate 2 DTC's from my PCM. The original email starts at the bottom.

I have no idea.

Joe I wish I had an answer for ya my friend, but it sounds like you'll have to find some other solution. Since LS1 Edit is the most comprehensive software on the market for pcm editing, I'm afraid we have to take what we can get. There are a number of issues (mostly ergonomic) I have with the software, but I bite my tongue and move on. From your emails, I didn't see that Ken won't fix the problem, rather he's stumped why it's happening. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Good luck, pal

Im not trying to be ignorant, but why do you insist on telling the pcm it still has a 4l60e. The computer isnt controlling the trans anyhow.

How am I trying to tell it it has a 4l60E in it? I just want to continure using my highly modified .ls1 file that I started with from stock. I also want to turn off any codes being set that I am not concerned about. You know, trying to USE LS1EDIT as it was designed. I didn't ask to be told how to program my PCM.

A response from a programmer who wrote a problem when he is alerted of a bug should not be, "I have no idea." Soimething along the lines of, "I'll have to look into this" would be better.

Which version of LS1Edit are you using? In older versions, I believe a few of the DTC #'s were listed incorrectly. This means that you'd toggle a particular DTC using edit, but you'd actually be disabling something else in the PCM itself when you reflashed. I had similar issues as you until someone on the LS1Edit mailing list steered me in the right direction as to which DTC's were numbered wrong.

This problem should be fixed with ver. 1.1, which is what I'm using now.

Have you tried disabling every DTC in the 18xx range?

ALso, FWIW, I still have the A4 program loaded into my PCM as well. There should be no need for you to have the PCM reflashed by a dealer with the M6 calibration...

I have V1.1. I have not disabled all the 18xx codes yET. I will now that I know what they are all for. Regardless of these facts though, LS1EDIT is not able to disable codes P01860 or P01810. It simply does not do what it claims it can.

Hmmm... I don't know what's happening in your case, but all my tranny related DTC's are gone. I did the same thing as you (a looong time ago), and have even gone as far as to remove all of the wiring that went to the tranny. MY car sets no DTC's related to the missing tranny.
