You can't run a dry shot of nitrous.

OK, so I would need to buy the HPTuner with 2 bar in order to do a SD tune? What is FI? Sorry I am new to the tuning side and am getting ready to place my order today for the HPtuners software.

FI = Forced Induction (turbo or supercharger).

To do SD tune with FI, you need a MAP sensor that reads boost. The stock one will not.

If you're not running a blower, then SD Tuning can be done with the standard HP Tuners or EFI Live.

I've also heard that you run into problems with a SD tune if you live in a climate that is always changing temps. I for instance live in Michigan, and I just did a whole nine yards to my car with a decent cam (228/236 .612/.580 114+2) and got it dyno tuned and all, but my tuners couldn't fix the bogging/ warm start idle issues. So, i'm considering going SD and believe that will fix my problems...

Flashscan EFILive has a new custom operating system that includes some extra tables that impact on the VE table to maintain an accurate SD tune. One adjusts based on IAT the other from ECT.

So basically, with this new custom OS, there is now absolutely no downside to a SD tune? What are some other factors that could throw off the SD tune? I was also told that you can't do a speed density tune with the stock gm PCM....and I have a 2001 WS6, when I went into a performance shop and asked to have my car SD tuned. So then I ended up paying for a dyno tune/driveability tune where they couldn't tune my car for driveability and then told me it was the cam that I put in and they sent me out the door...did I get ripped?

I'd say so ... any decent tuner should be able to make a cammed car driveable. People run the MS3 and Trex in their daily drivers ... and those are big mothers.

Yes. What the shop meant to say is, we don't know what we're doing, please give us your money.

I run a 23x/24x in my bird, SD tuned. I don't drive it everyday, but I could. Pick up EFILive or HPT and tune it yourself.

Forgot to ask, what exactly do I need to purchase? Can I just get a replacement flashscan/obdII cable and download the software off their website?

Thanks
Adrian
