Minor Intermittent Misfire - (Ported MAF)

Default Minor Intermittent Misfire - (Ported MAF)

I am getting a minor misfire that isn't there all the time on the TECH 2 at the dealership, the SES doesn't even pick the code up. The misfire graph picks it up slightly from about 3000 to 3500 rpm's. I just changed my clutch and put a McLeod Rev-Lok II. My flywheel is stock but it has been cut once. Once I put the clutch in I felt a vibration at 1500rpm's and then against at 2500rpm's and up. I've never felt this before the clutch change, so I think the flywheel is probably out of balance, but I don't know if this could be causing the misfire or not. I've heard that if you drive around with ported MAF ends that it is not good unless you have specific tuning for it. After I felt the vibration I also had the rods and springs changed because I thought that might be the problem. The rods were bent but the vibration is still there. Any ideas???

The vibration that you are feeling, I can almost guarantee is from the clutch.

Alot of aftermarket clutches, especially the heavy-duty ones do not center correctly when engaged (ie the pad and the fly are perfectly centered). This *slight* off-center will cause minor vibrations through certain RPM ranges.

The bent push-rods could easily explain your misfire. You never mentioned whether or not your misfire went away after the spring and p-rod swap.

The misfire is still there after the spring and pushrods swap. I'm going to take off the HPP3 tuning and scan it again to see what happens.
