Default CE light question(couldn't find in search)

I fixed a couple of problems and erased the codes that had been thrown. I had the car idling one day and the Check Engine light flashed 13 times, it did this 3 times in a small time interval. I've put 40 miles on the car so far and no light has resurfaced. Is that flashing normal. It only did it that one day and nothing since... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, a flashing SES light is not normal. See if you have any history codes stored in the PCM. If it's staying off the problem has probably gone away though.

I was hoping. The car is up for NYS inspection and I need the codes to be clear. I was told that the vehicle needs 60 or so miles before the computer resets.

If you're not getting any lights you'll probabably be OK, if you reset the PCM or just want to be sure I'd do a couple complete drive cycles before inspection - www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html No inspections here in Florida, someone familiar with NYS inspections will probably chime in, not sure if they just read current codes? Some are stored for up to 40 cycles.

Thanks. I was told that following a no go inspection the codes had to be cleared and then the vehicle had to be driven until the set mileage or when the ECU resets. I have 50 on the car now and still no light, just the flashing before I put any miles on it. We'll see what happens. I have extensive mods and the "usual" codes were deleted with the LS1 edit. I had a few pop up that I took care of and now I'm where I said above. Thanks again for the help.
