OBD-II connector Pinouts
On the ECM connector... for a 2001 Silverado, does anyone have the diagram for what each pinout does?? Me and a friend are fabbing up a connector for it, and need to know what each pinout is.
thanks!

Re: OBD-II connector Pinouts
I don't know how many other terminals may be used on an 01 truck, but what is needed for PCM communication are:
pin 2 serial data
pin 4 ground
pin 5 ground
pin 16 battery voltage
There maybe other pins used for other modules (ABS, Air Bag, etc.) but those are the PCM pins.

Re: OBD-II connector Pinouts
I belive pin 9 also goes to the PCM however I haven't figured out what its for.. Some UART connection of sorts..
Paul, you know?
Check out the OBD Hacking Board tommorow (Monday). I have another set of work bench pictures going up including pics of my ghetto-fab off-board programming adapter for the tech-2.

Re: OBD-II connector Pinouts
Hi Keith,
Yes, some OBD-II equipped vehicles have a hybrid system where the PCM is OBDII and the other modules in the vehicle are pre-OBDII, 8192 baud UART. The vehicle will typically have a PIM (Powertrain Interface Module) that converts the OBDII to 8192 UART and back again to facilitate comms between the two different systems.
The OBD-II connector uses pin 9 to provide access to the 8192 UART data of the non-OBDII modules.
Regards
Paul

Re: OBD-II connector Pinouts
I don't believe pin 9 goes to the PCM on an 01 truck. I think it's the airbag uart serial data line. Just airbag, not PCM.
