Timing question
Timing question Anyone have any idea why Ed wright can not get my WOT timing down from 33.5 degrees to 28?I had max retard with his first tuning due to faulse knock,unhook the KSs and run 28 degrees @WOT, he then deleted the KS and with 2 attemps of programming i still get 33.5 degrees@ WOT. Please advise.
Re: Timing question Are you running a ported MAF or aftermarket MAF. An MAF that reports less air flow than actual flow will bump up your timing.
When your car goes WOT it may not be able to get out of the part-throttle timing (30 to 45) because of the low reported air flow.

Re: Timing question I am running a stock MAF,before ED killed the KSs i was at 28 degrees at WOT, the was with the sensors unplugged otherwise i was getting max KR.Ed did drop the part throttle timing from 33 to 28 and it stall acts the same.33.5 @WOT

Here is my next guess:
Your target timing looks as though it is 34.
If he has made changes to the Octane Table timing, and it has not made a difference, then I would suspect that the car is not referencing that table. There are other tables for base timing references
On automatic cars there is a base spark table for closed throttle position in park and drive. Just so happens that closed throttle position base timing is 34 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> .
Sometimes, on a bad tune it is easier to start all over than to track down the mistake.

Re: Timing question I am still waiting to hear back from ED, he says he going to load another PCM and try it in a truck of his, my truck feels like it is laboring at upper RPMs while running 33-33.5 degrees of timing. i have yet to hear any ping with this 6.0
