bad ground somewhere.
if you have had the heads check on the back of the drivers side head first make sure all 3 wires are grounded

What year is your car, my 99 SS did the same thing every time it got below 30 degrees. It was a problem on about every f-body until GM fixed it on the 2000's. It didn't hurt anything though. I think it could be fixed with a new guage console under warranty if you take it in to the dealer. There was a tech sheet on it I believe, but they didn't take it to a full recall.

Low battery or more likely problem with the cluster. GM released a TSB for this several years ago. They will replace the cluster with a new one. The old ones had a prom that had to have power all the time to save the information, the new ones have flash proms which dont need power to retain settings.

Your battery is about to bite the dust, have your battery load tested, if it falls to 10.5ish volts or below, replace it. My 99 did the same exact thing for about a month (everytime I started it) Then my battery died, and after I replaced it, it hasn't happened again. Corroded cables can cause it too.
