Default *LS1 Edit* Questions Before I Buy It....

I'm trying to justify to myself the $550 price tag. I need to clarify some of my assumptions before I decide to invest in this:

1. I will not need to buy the HPP3 ever because LS1 Edit has all of the same functions and more.

2. I will not need to buy a MAFT because Edit does all of that too.

3. I will not need to buy O2 Simulators when I get headers because I can delete the code that I throw with LS1 Edit

4. I can get rid of EGR and AIR provisions with LS1 Edit, therefore I don't have to drill a hole in a LS6 intake manifold if I get one from a car instead of a dealer with a pre-drilled hole.

HPP3 = $325
MAFT = $180
O2 Sims = $90

If I don't have to buy all of these things because of Edit I can save $45 and have the advantage of tuning abilities. Even if I do have to buy the O2 Sims I think that Edit would still be worth it in the long run.
BTW, I live in Midland and Lubbock, Texas for those of you that may have information to give me concerning me passing inspection without EGR/AIR in those areas.
Thanks all for your help!

All of you assumptions are correct, LS1 Edit is one stop shopping. The price tag is steep but in my opinion, its worth it. Or if you can hold off alittle while there may be alternatives like TunnerCat comeing out in the spring.

Of course you do need a laptop to install the LS1 Edit program on. I also got Auto Tap to record everything and analyze it. It will help to know what you need to do with LS1 Edit.

You can install the software on any laptop; hell, you could install it on 50 of them if you want as long as they meet the minimum requirements to run the software. It's the adapter cable with the black box in line that is locked to one VIN (or up to 4 VINs if you pay to add them, past 4 and you have to buy the unlimited version last I checked).

The software is NOT VIN locked. Only the cable. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Sounds good. Just one more question then:

Is the $100 worth it for the 1-year Update Service?

Actually, I didn't even pay for the updates, but somehow I've been getting them for quite a while now....

Yes, it is worth it if you have the laptop to run it. If not, then that is another expense to consider. If you want to get a good laptop cheap that will suit your needs, then let me know and I will get you connected with a 'puter dealer that set me up last year. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I paid $200 for a IBM P2 233mhz w/ Windows 95 & power adapter that is perfect for both A-tap and Edit. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I'm a freshman in college and one of my really good friends that I'm going to be rooming with next year has a lap top (he lives right down the hall from me this year). He has already offered to lend it to me in times of LS1 Edit needs.
But if I do decided to buy one in the future then will I be able to transfer the software from computer to computer or will I ALWAYS have to use his?
Thanks again for the help guys.
