Hey guys, im trying to figure out whats best for the money for tuning the computer. Im putting a cam in and wondering if the HPP is good enough to do all the adjustments to the computer that are needed when the cam is installed. Im just starting to learn about these motors, so any info is appreciated. Thanks.

The HPP is very limited in what it can do. If you can afford LS1-Edit, get it. You be happy you did. I use to have the HPP, but sold it and bought Edit. Edit will help for tuning your cam, while the HPP can't do anything but change fan settings, rev limit, and tire/gear size.

I had a Hypertech PPIII too. Big waste of money. The LS1 Edit is about $200.00 more but worth it...
There also is the Predator, I am not too familiar with the product, but heard some good things about it...

Thanks guys, looks like LS1 edit is the way to go, but it is alot of money. Im wondering if it is worth it, or should i just take it to a shop and get the computer adjusted.

I hate to be weasly about the HPP III. If you decide to go with the "cheaper" route. I have a Hypertech Power Programmer Plus III for sale for $150 bucks. Yes it is limited in its tuning, but mine is in good condition and is way cheaper used then new. Email me if your interested. I have moved up to LS1 edit, and am quite happy with it, despite the $1500 dollars spent on it, with the laptop included.

thanks for the offer, but if you feel that the HPP is limited, id rather go with LS1 edit, but after looking at the FAQ section, it seems intimidating. Is it truly easy to use?

Like all technology, there will be a learning curve to master LS1 Edit. When I first got mine, I was very intimidated. Too much, to soon. And of course, if you screw something up, well, lets face it, an LS1 on alot of nitrous is a bad place to make a mistake.
However, it is a good tool for tuning. Seek advice, ask alot of questions! I learned more from talking to people about LS1 edit then any instruction book could explain. Good luck.

LS1Edit is the way to go, but you also need a scan tool to monitor the changes you make in real time as you make those changes. You will also need Atap or EASE in addition to LS1Edit to get it right. This isn't cheap. When you use the HPPIII your making blind chanes to your PCM. You don't know what PIDs are being changed. HPPIII is a lot like religion: you gota have faith.

Do the research. Avoid the HPP. And if you decide to go with a Predator, E-mail me for pricing/info. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
