98 A4 PCM question - **** Mode
Hi
If i drive a long distance at low rpm (say in OD on a highway cruse) my PCM seems to go into **** mode.
After such a drive, when booting it, it is low in power and misses. Seems to be extreamly lean (no engine/warrning codes). It takes about 3 or 4 WOT runs to get it back to normal. With 273 gears it seems I have to drive arounbd in 2nd to keep the revs up, or it will lean out on me. This is a real fustration. If I drive it harder it runs great.
Is this normal or do I need a new computer or o2 sensors or somthing? I heard the 98 PCM had problems. Is this one of them?
Thanks JA

Yes it's that mode somewhere between your LS1 running poorly but not poorly enough for anyone to figure out what's wrong.
I am going to replace my fuel filter and front O2s. After that if I am still having problems, I will have to find a scanner.
