Quick Question: A/F Ratio
Quick Question: A/F Ratio How much HP/TQ can one expect to gain on a stock/nearly stock (lid) car by tuning the A/F ratio from 11.0:1 to 12.8:1?
I am running really rich, have a lid and cutout, and pulled 329/343 on the dyno yesterday.
There was *zero* smoke out of the exhaust, but it is still terribly rich in the wideband 02 - this is the second time I've dynoed with the same A/F ratio results.

Re: Quick Question: A/F Ratio Maybe a few ponies, possibly 5-7hp. Are you running any catalytic converters? IF you keep it that rich for any length of time and you can kiss those cats goodbye (burn em' out).You might even try going to around 13.0:1 and just see what that does. The only way I can see having an A/F ratio that rich,being beneficial, would be at wide-open-throttle. I don't know what kinda' taffic you have in your area, but I spent most of my time at part throttle. For that little gain, I would search for the horsepower in another direction, and not even jack with the A/F ratio.
Re: Quick Question: A/F Ratio what's up dude? nice #'s again ... if you're thinking of tuning the A/F ratio you can use a MAFT which I apparently don't need ... my AFR was between 12.7 and 12.9 without any tunning.
Just last Friday I got a MAFT because I thought I was going to need it, but I have no need for it anymore. Let me know if you're interested in getting one ...
