How to set up MAFT
I just ordered a MAFT and was wondering how I go about setting it up... I have access to Autotap I assume I will need that...it will be going on the dyno this spring but wondering if I can set it up prior to that?
It has very easy to understand instructions. You will need atap. You adjust it according to what your O2's and ltrms read on atap. You want your O2's around .890-.910 at wide open throttle, and your ltrms as close to zero when cruising. If the initial #'s are too high or low, you turn the ***** +/- however many the instructions say. The instructions are even on the inside of the lid of the maft that you have to remove to get to the *****, so you can drive around to check the #'s on atap, then pull over and raise the hood to adjust, then test drive again. It's way easy.
To elaborate a little, don't touch WOT switches until you get your cruising Lterms as close to 0 as possible; on the negative side of 0
Although you won't be able to get as close with an MAFT when compared to Edit, you should be able to get it around ~-3 which is fine.
Try to do your Lterm taps cruising around town and not on the highway.
Once this is complete, do a WOT and make sure your Lterms go to 0. Then you can adjust the WOT switch on your MAFT to richen or lean up your mixture as needed.
Since the factory O2's aren't accurate, a 12.5 - 13.1 A/F could read anywhere from .810 to .950 on your O2 averages at WOT. A suggestion would be to lean it out until you get knock, then richen it one notch

Would the knock be at WOT. As of right now I'll just have the dyno with wide band 02. Will I just hear the knock, or would I have to be using Autotap to know when I get knock?
