Me and my buddy are thinking of getting ls1edit. I am going to make the initial purchase of the 550. Then he is going to buy the additional VIN.

We are both in the military and will be at different bases within the next year. If I Install the software on my laptop then install it on his is there anything from keeping up from shipping the cable/box back and forth to each other when we need a tune as long as both VIN's are entered on both laptops? Or is it more complicated?

That would work. It doesn't matter what computer you use because you'll only be able to scan the vehicles that are licensed, anyway. I have it installed on two computers, and I can program with either one.

No. You need the cable module to use LS1Edit.

 

I think I got an answer, I know you wouldnt be able to connect to the PCM without the box.

Just wanted to make sure that if he had the ls1edit program installed on his laptop that he could use the program and tune if he had the box.

Vice versa..I could use it as well on my laptop with box. Just wanted to confirm that it wasnt a one-time installation on one laptop. That it could be installed on 2 at once, and that we could ship the cable back and forth whenever we needed to tune.

I've got LS1Edit installed on like 4 of my own computers right now. No problem.
