we really need alot more info??

what type of car?
other mods?
A4 or M6?
year?

ideal timing is around 26 degrees though some of the 01-02 cars only make 22-24 at WOT for some reason.

my timing is right at 26.5-27 at WOT with a 224 cam.

I cant tell ya how much timing to add because every car is different. If you add to much the car will ping up top from having more than enough.

You should be able to take your timing to 31 or 32 degrees. The trick is to reduce timing at peak torque. When timing is done right you can almost always take a ~11:1 compression motor to 31 degrees.

Timing helps HP as a diminishing return.

This is just an example:

The difference in HP between 31 and 26 degrees of timing may only be 4 HP. The difference between 26 and 22 degrees of timing may only be 5 HP. However, the further you bring timing from it optimal point, the more HP you will loose. The difference in HP between 22 and 18 degrees of timing may be 10 HP. The difference in HP between 18 and 14 degrees would be more than 10 HP.
