Predetor LS-1 Edit questions
The predator is the entire package, tuner and scanner in one. There is a catch though. It is a half-*** tuner, and a half-*** scanner (IMO).
If you don't see yourself getting immersed in tuning your car, then the Predator will do fine. It is not hard to learn, and it is everything in one. However, if you ever see yourself seriously modding your car one day (427, turbo, supercharger, etc...) then I would highly recommend just taking the plunge and purchasing both a scanner and LS1 Edit.
And FWIW, I think I was able to gain a solid 8 RWHP over the last Predator tuned car that came in. With LS1 Edit you can make sergical changes to a car to squeak out more horsepower.
Good Luck,
Kevin
Predator is like edit and autotap in one, but with much less capability than the other two combined.
i was just reading through some post and was wondering on these scanning and editing tool.. i now have access to a laptop and was wondering which i can go with.. so what im understanding is autotap is the device that reads any problems with your car and ls1 edit fixes your problems.. is there any other combos to go with.. predatoe sounds good to have an all in one package but i read that it not as good as the to combined if planning to go with sc and other big things..what is efi live? and the other?
There is another big advantage to Edit. I realize we want more HP, but in my case I was able to get rid of surging, stumbling, car not slowing down fast enough, etc. It took about 20 flashes. No way it could have been done with the Predator. Oh, the car now idles at 750.

The Predator can be custom tuned for any setup. It can actually do anything Edit can. It just has to be sent in if you need to go further than the preinstalled adjustment limits. And they will flash the ECM 20 times for the same custom tune if that's what it takes to get it right. Their customer service so far is very good. DiabloSport uses the same software GM uses to program our ECM's from the factory. So it is capable of altering every possible parameter. Eventually all of this will be done over the net. Most updates will be free of charge. Essentially what they do is move your adjustment limits and other parameters where you want them. They can custom tune your timing, A/F, etc. based on your mods, dyno tuning, DiabloSport's test cars, etc. So instead of you trying to figure everything out yourself, they will do it all for you. And it's still cheaper than Edit/ATAP even with the custom tuning. I'm not saying Edit sucks or anything. It's an awesome programming tool especially when coupled with ATAP. I just want to clear up some things about the Predator so anyone who's interested can make an informed decision.
