Default Help!! My timing is terrible..

Ok, I just got done putting in a CC 212 218 Cam, and stage one heads on the 'ol 98 TA. I have MAFT and A-Tap, I have been tuning Ltrims and WOT O2's, finally I get the WOT about right but now my WOT timing is only 16-20. The car doesn't sound very crisp. Plus I'm getting 0-2.1 Knock.

What can I do with the MAFT to make this thing run better?

Anything else that I can look at? I need more timing, plus someday I will tune again for N2O.

Thanks in advance <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> .

Tom

first, what have you tuned and tweaked so far?? Ive seen where some cars loose timing when they mess with the MAF table alot.

if your timing 16-20 the whole time? Are you getting knock the whole WOT run also?

Knock will pull timing...

worse comes to worse you can adjust your low spark tables on LS1EDIT <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> but i wouldnt do that unless there was no other way.

but let us know what you tweaked so far?

Take the maft off and re set the computer. With that cam the car should learn and run fine.

Tom. I run a wet 100 shot. My car is a 2000 Trans-am Heads and cam. 224-228 563 lift. I run 93 gas. I have no tuning. stock ported maff @ throttle body. Car runs 11.30's on the motor. 10.60's last year on the juice. I have a maft but I fount it caused me more problems than helped.Just keep good 02 sensors run good gas and let the car learn any new mods.

Thanks cruzer, I was just wondering if you ever run 91 or 92 octane. If you do, what differences do you see? Does your car jump to the low octane table? Last but not least, where do you get your new O2 sensors?

Thanks again,

Tom
