o2 sensor question

o2 sensor question aiight here we go.....i have a 2000 camaro ss with the slp package and ultra z hood and all but i am wondering, my gas mileage is decreasing and it isnt as quick as it used to be......a code that my check engine light sent off was that the catalyst efficiency is below the threshlod on the left and right bank.....is that just the o2 sensors? and i bought some bosch sensors and was planning on putting them on tonight but should that bring the performance back to where it should be? b/c those are the only 2 codes being sent off to the scanner. i appreciate feedback on it....thanx alot...................mike

it seems like your PCM is reading the extra
air flow,or reading it wrong and
running rich,or dumping fuel
to compinsate for the extra air flowing
into the engine.
that will cool of your exhaust to much
and your o2sensors are reading that.
if you have done any mods to your MAFsensor
that mite cause it.
you can put that screen back on it
if you took it off,that mite help
you probably need to use ls1-edit
and adjust your fuel trims
and maf freq.readings

Re: o2 sensor question It sounds like you are fouling your Cats. As the cats foul they will begin to choke exhaust flow. This will hurt your gas mileage and your power.
Usually a modded car that is running too rich will cause this to happen, but your car is just barely modded.
A car with bad rear o2 sensors will run with the same power as one with fine rear o2 sensors.
Try replacing the O2 sensors on the car (or replacing one bank at a time, new front and back). If the low cat code still shows up then you will know that the actual problem is your cats. Don't take steps to just replace the cats, find out why the cats have fouled first.
