Default Controlling LS2 on Gen 3 PCM?

I dont have my HPTuners yet, should have it by next week, but I'm swapping an LS2 into an older truck, and will be using a Gen 3 PCM, instead of the Gen IV PCM.

Will it be as easy as just copying and pasting tables from the Gen IV PCM to the Gen 3 pcm so I do not have to do any tuning besides just the copy and paste. It will be a completely stock LS2, just want to get the truck up and running with a base tune/file if possible.

couple of things to keep in mind
1. You'll need a few conversion items (for knock sensors and such) thunderracing.com sells those
2. It must be a 2005 LS2 block and crank... 2005 have double the teeth on the crank reluctor wheel so won't work with a Gen III PCM. ( a 2006 GTO block may work... but not sure)

As for tuning it... havne't had any experience there... (one item for sure you'll wanna change... the Cylinder Displacement field) ... there aren't many tables in the LS2 that are 1:1 between the LS1 and 2 PCMs.

I've got the conversion harnesses already. The motor is from a 2005 SSR.
If I'm reading this right, you contradicted yourself, you say it must be a 2005 LS2, then you say the 2005 LS2 will not work. Do you mean the 2006 LS2 will not work? I thought it was '06 and newer that had the new reluctor wheels on them, but I could be wrong.

Would I be better off just switching to an LS2 PCM?

whoops... meant 2006 heh ... 2006 blocks have twice the number of reluctor teeth (either 48 or 52 I think?) whereas 2005 blocks and crank employ a 24 or 26 tooth

Since you have a 2005 engine that will work w/a Gen III PCM, I would do that... the Gen III PCM has more controls in it (since it's been out so long) and there are more people knowledgable with them
