Default cannot communicate with computer...

i tried to read on my bird and its a no go, so i tried on the truck and it works no problem..alls i got to say is snap on MODIS---the tool is crazy!! you can watch the rpms on screen, simaltaniusly turn off an injector hearing the motor run on 1 less cylinder- the idle changing/car shaking....You can turn up the fuel pump to full power hear that sucker wine...theres lots more cool stuff....any way it wont communicate with the computer on my car...i am trying to establish whats wrong...any one??

does it have a setting tab so you can change the com port? i had that issue with my ls1edit, and my wideband logger, but I use a serial to USB adapter. Maybe thats your issue.

If you're using the OBDII port under the dash, the most likely culprit is your cigarette lighter fuse. Swap it out and see if it will read then.

Yep...check your "CIG/ACCY" fuse.

the port has got these keys that are vehical specific...some of them cross the pins or eliminate them, even with the right one it wont connect...what is this setting tab you speak of??


i have also changed the fuse from the wipers to the cig and no suck luck ....any other ideas?

What software are you using anyway?

the modis uses a windows ce software platform, with either domestic or asian communication software...they are still working on making it for german or european cars...ha its cool you can even tell if your wipers are on using the tool. any other ideas??

yea but the point is that im not using a $150 scan tool. The 0bd11 port doesnt give any signal... my car needs a tune... someone help!!

Maybe I'm missing what your asking...doublecheck the DLC to make sure it's not the car. I'd put a meter on it to be sure. www.obdii.com/connector.html
