Code P1415 (air injection pump) - How to fix? MY service engine soon light went on today while I was drving on the interstate. I have no mods on my 2001 Black camaro except for a sub and amp. ARe the any common causes I can check for, or should I get it scanned, or hp tuner or something.

I got my car scanned at autozone and code P1415 (auxilary emmssions controls) came up. Supposevley something is wrong with mt secondart air injection pump (AIR). http://www.gearchatter.com/viewtopic9115.php
DOes anyone have more information on how to fix this, or something to tell me where the air pump is located so I can check the hoses?

I had P1416 (passenger side). Replace the air check valve (black disc shaped valve above the #5 cyl coil pack between the metal air tube coming off the header/then connects to a hose on the back side of it). GM PN is 12565503, you can pick one up at your local parts store. It's OK to drive with that code until you get if fixed.

How do you remove the check vavle assembly, do I Just take off the check valve clamp and the twist the silver metal tubing next to the valve or the actual valve assembley. Is this hard to take off or will it be easy after i take off the clamp?

Remove the hose clamp, hose at the rear - then unscrew the check valve from the metal pipe coming off the exhaust while holding the metal air tube steady with another wrench. Basically the check valve screws into the air tube coming off the header.

How long can I drive the car around for without my 02 sensors going bad with a bad air pump valve?
I ordered the part from gmdirect.com, but its on special order right now, any Idea on how long this will take?

Well crap. Guess I got lucky with mine. I have seen posts where under warranty for P1415 or P1416 the dealership would replace both valves, regardless - but usually just replacing the faulty one does the trick.
