Car won't idle while in SD to tune VE Just what it says guys, I put the car in SD mode to tune my VE table and the car won't idle. I raised the desired idle to 1100 and it still dips down from surge. It stops when I disconnect the IAC, if that helps. IAC counts are between 35-50, base timing is around 43* and I cut the over/under speed tables in half, and it still surges.
I think 43* base timing is way too high for a stock cam. On my 2001 ZO6 with a 234/228 cam, I am at 40* base idle timing. On a stock cam car, too much base timing will cause the idle to hunt up & down.

Yes this is with the Trex in there... I tuned the idle with the MAF connected and my RAF table is good, my IAC counts are good, it did not surge, just idled steady at 1050. Since I put it in SD it started surging, so where is the issue? I tried controling the timing in VCM controls to find the right advance, but it surges no matter where I set the advance.
Doesn't make sense. Mine idled better w/o than w/ when I started tuning. Maybe your problem is in the VE Table. I know that my VE table had to come down like 20 in the idle area for my cam.
