Timing advance????
Timing advance???? What is a good point to set the timing on a LS1 car at? We have started to tune this thing and are wondering what would be a good starting point for the timing table.

There is an entire table that has to be tuned.
It all depends on weather as well - when cold the car will reach higher g/cylinder and will reach different point of the table.
But at WOT and say 4000rpm you want as much as possible without knock - at least thats what the dyno said about my car. My guess if you have good exhaust is up around 25-27 degrees is possible - maybe more.
But its not a simple one step process.

Depends on what year I think. Mine's an '02...so I just added the following to the spark table .76 and .80 columns (because that's where my WOT spark is):
4400 RPM ~ +0.5*
4800 RPM ~ +1.0*
5200 RPM ~ +1.5*
5600 RPM ~ +2.0*
6000 RPM ~ +2.0*
6400 RPM ~ +2.0*
'98-'00s have a different spark map that's already pretty agressive. You can try what I did with mine if you have one of those years, but you'll have to keep a close eye for KR. If you're already getting KR, try getting a hold of an '02 tune and see if those spark maps (high octane, low octane, base spark idle, and base spark p/n) are a good base to start from.

WOW once again the people here at LS1tech have came threw with some very good things to look at and try. My car is a 2000 and we added 3 degrees to the entire curve and as of yet have not noticed any KR but it is only like 60* out today so that may have a little bit to do with it. I know once we added that timing into the curve the car woke right up and ran very hard. It is an A4 with 3.23 gears and stock tires on it now and it will flat bake the tires anywhere in first gear and halfway through second. I only run 93 octaine from one gas station here in town and they have no emissions aditive in the gas since we don't have emissions and they have their own tanker truck for delivery so the gas should be good always has been in the past 6 years I have gotten gas from there. Other than that the car has Lt TD and a LS6 intake with SLP ram air. So far with it running high 14 to low 15 A/F it has ran a abest of 12.80@109.99 on stock tires with a 2.06 60'.
I've messed with timing a lot on my car, and I've had the best luck in hot weather with 25-26 degrees right before peak torque, a couple degrees less at peak torque, and then about 25 after that until the limiter. When it gets cooler, I'll add another 1-2 degrees and call it a day. It has responded best to this arrangement...
