What is Non Volatile Memory, RAM or ROM and what is its function? I show a failure, no P0601, history or current. Does it need more than one driving cycle to test?
I'm suspecting my custom operating system. Looking for some info before I try reflashing a different tune.

Non-volatile memory is memory that retains it's contents when the power is removed. It could be:
- battery backed RAM
- EEPROM
- PROM
- Flash
In the case of the LS1/LS2 PCM it is Flash memory that is updated by the PCM at ignition off.
Example data that is stored in NVRAM is:
- VIN,
- CASE learn data
- Oil life
- Engine shutdown conditions
- PCM locking codes
None of those data items will be cleared by power cycling the PCM.
Are you able to read your PCM contents using EFILive?
Are you able to reflash your PCM contents using EFILive?
When that code is set, indicating a memory failure, usually (as a safety measure) the PCM locks itself to prevent any reading or reflashing.

Yes
Are you able to reflash your PCM contents using EFILive?
Yes, including COS.

No codes, except for P0103, SD mode.
Read this failure using State pids, looking to see why torque management is active at idle, suspected a stuck extended travel brake switch as my Cruise Control and brake lights were still functioning. Do not know how long this NVM failure has been active, have had to do one crank position case relearn when first installing COS 02030003.
I believe the code for NVM failure is P0601, even if in history PCM should be replaced. EFILve reads failure for NVM in State Pid, the cars DIC shows nothing, car starts and runs well, everything works. EFI successfully tests RAM and ROM. What to believe?
