EFI LIVE baby!! learning more crap everyday....hopefully I won't forget the first things I learned.

(Both programs can do the same thing now, as they are each others top competitor...its the users choice **just a note, I know what the poll is for, and what the thread is for)

Hptuners here what attracted me when I bought & now:
Price
Vehicle support I4, I5, I6, V6, V8 GM & soon to have ford/dodge support
Year locking & now vin locking schemes with an upgrade system
First to integrate a scanner with an editor package
First to release custom OS's
First to offer "Auto VE tuning"
Free & often updating
Active forum with over 3000 members for help that sometimes cant be found here
Email support system
Explorer or tree style navigation systems
Thourough help file as well as mouse over help
2 & 3d editing
Partial write recovery

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2936

that should fill in the blanks on the rest.

first of all download efi live. go to their website www.efilive.com and find the link for the demo. check it out load a tune, i'll even send you mine if you want.

then see about HPTuners, they may have a downloadable demo now. or ask around for someone near you that has a tuning program, i'm sure someone does

One thing to consider here too.

Do both HP Tuner and EFI Live give you software updates for free? I know I tried to update my software for EFI Live but I got no response in trying to upgrade. Sent multiple emails.

Hang in there and keep trying. We hear the same thing from some of our customers. With all the email spam filters required these days, some of them are bound to get dropped.

Just make sure you don't have any words in your email message that might be mistaken for a spam keyword, or something will get blocked.

If all else fails, use the vendors online forum to post your question and explain that emails are not getting through

When it comes to the basics, this is totally true. In the end neither will get you more power its just how easy you get there. I use HPT for various reasons, same reasons EFI guys use their stuff. HPT just supports more cars which gives me more room. I also like the scanner much better. I know many EFI guys that use the HPT scanner for logging. As stated, the new realease will be nice. I know the Live guys will talk about what they have comming up as well, it is an ongoing thing on here you will come to find out haha Just wait for the releases and check them out.

I would say, in the end, try each product if you can with someone that can walk you through them, then make your decision.
