Default Cams & Sparks

So, like the title says. Spark. Cammed cars like more or not?

I'm running a Cartek 2x cam (say 224/228 ish specs). Stock 98 timing has it coming in at 28 degrees at WOT. Much power to be had by adding some timing? What'd everyone else do?

Right now the car has a pretty okay VE tune on it, recal'd MAF, adjusted PE, and scaled MAF to get 12.6:1 AFR on the dyno (to be safe).

Any suggestions/experiences would be great!

Each setup responds a little different... I have never made extra power with timing higher than 28 degrees... At this point I would think there is a little power left in leaning it out a little, but nothing in the timing....

Gotcha. Pretty much what I've been thinking so far. The more I think about it the more I should have done one more pull with about 12.9:1 AFR on the dyno. That would have probably got me to the 370 marker.

Update here: Worked on a buddies car and redid his tune. We gained some really nice mid-range pickup by getting rid of the factory "dip" in timing in the upper regions of the High Octane Table. As you move through the rev range the PCM gives you "full" timing, then backs it off until about 5000ish before it slowly adds it back in. We added it back in sooner and seemed to notice a nice difference mid-range.

His car has a 220/224 in it with lid, MAC's, cat-back. No dyno yet, but we'll get one there soon. I'm going to do the same with my ride as well next week after I put a ported throttle body on it.
