Question programming shift points

he guys what is the safe rpm for shift points for my car?
my cuzzins got me a hypertech pp3 [yeah i know there not that hot but my car is almost stock and they have it on 3 rides and it seemed to help plus its free lol]
also does the pp3 do any thing with the torque management and things like that?
my cuzzin put one on his 99 tahoe and right after it hit 2nd it seemed to pick up a lot was that the extra torque or what lol.

thanks homies

I have the Hypertech Power Programmer Plus (older version of III). As far as the shift points go, I left mine stock and just increased the firmness (chirping in 2nd frequently). Sorry can't help with the shift points, never got around to playing with them.

And since your car is stock, the power tuning should help since it was designed for basically stock vehicles or one that has CAI and catback.

And, the PPIII will probably make your fan switch unnecessary.

Personally, I would not go higher than 6000 rpm shifting on a stock tranny and if you go higher don't forget to set the rev limiter at least 100 rpm higher than your highest shift point. I would also recommend to install a transmission cooler to keep the trans fluid temp down if you want to raise the shift points.

My shift points were set to:

1-2 shift +3 MPH (6027 rpm) (stock is 5700 rpm)
1 MPH = 109 rpm

2-3 shift +5 MPH (5990 rpm) (stock is 5700 rpm)
1 MPH = 58 rpm

3-4 shift +8 MPH (5788 rpm) (stock is 5500 rpm)
1 MPH = 36 rpm

Remember that these shift point and rpm settings were for a 2.73 rear. Since you have a 3.23 rear:

1-2 shift 1 MPH = 129 rpm
2-3 shift 1 MPH = 69 rpm
3-4 shift 1 MPH = 42 rpm

Be carefull not to hit the rev limiter.
