full flash differnt os
Whats involved in doing a full flash from a differnt year pcm. For example, if I had a pcm from a 99 and wanted to flash it for a 2000, or if I had a 2004 pcm and wanted to flash it for a 2003? Will it matter what stock OS was in the car to start with? I have a 04 pcm and a stock 03 tune but differnt OS than it came with, if I do a full flash of the 03 tune I have with the differnt OS than the car came with will it work?

It should work, just make sure you copy over every table EXACTLY to make sure nothing goes haywire. I have done a full flash twice, once when going from 2000 to 2002 OS, and then just recently from 2002 to Custom OS5 (EFILive Commercial V1). My VIN still reads the same as factory, btw.

Its not difficult at all. For the '99 you can you can go to the Repository and download a 1999 tune migrated to a 02 OS. You would then do a full reflash. If your current tune is modified you will have to open two instances of EFIlive and manually transfer your data into the requisite tables.
This is for if you are using EFIlive. I am not sure about HPTuners.

I'll let ya'll know how it works on the HPT side then. I've got licenses for 99 and 02 (still putting off upgrading to the new credit system, haha), and my buddy's 99 (my tuning business card) really could use a single VE table...

With hptuners you will loose your vin if you do switch to an operating system of a different year as it breaks our year/model licensing safeguards. However, we do try and make things easier for our customers by allowing them to apply a custom OS to any stock operating system rather then a couple of years.
