map voltage with cam Ok so i was scanning my buddys car and he has a lq9 with a decent cam thats a 222/224 and i noticed the map voltage was 2.5 volts at idle. The specs for that engine are 1-1.5 volts at idle off of mitchells on demand. So is it higher becuase the cam or is this indicating a vacume leak of some sort. Anyone with some insight please chime in. Thanks
i've had an allready well behaving 228/228 112+4 cam drop from ~52 to 45kPa just by playing with idle timing. big cams have their own 'happy range' but you can always help it by adjusting afr/ve/raf/idle spark/throttle body screw. idle rpm is of course the biggest factor in how smooth it runs, how much vacuum it gets, etc. but if you got leaks, no amount of tuning will help it any.
