Out of curiousty, why would you want LS1Edit over EFILive or HPTuners?

Get either HP Tuners or EFI Live, both come with great scanners and help files.

BTW - LS1 Edit hasn't had a update in over 2 years.

Incorrect, they just had an update recently.

I have used all three and I do agree that EFI-Live and HPtuners are nice because they include a scanner built in, I have no reason to switch since I already own LS1Edit.

I suggest you do your own research and decide which you like and buy that.

LS1 Edit is a complete waste of money if you are making a new purchase. It does not come with a scan tool, has no external sensor support, and has a crappy user interface. I owned the tuner version at one point in time and while it was good when nothing else existed it is inferior in every way to EFI Live or HP Tuners. I used HP Tuners now but I also own EFI Live's scantool and can say they are a top notch operation as well.

It isn't a complete waste of money. I tune with it. I will admit it doesn't have a working scan tool but I already had Autotap so I wasn't upset with that. I love how the whole VE table is in actual numbers instead of percents. Much easier to think in units. Plus it is easier to change. The resolution is higher that way.

I don't care for the language the program was written in but its lack of graphics goes easy on my 'craptop' computer. That saved me some $$ since I didn't have to get a new laptop.

I use a seperate program to do a regression on my table data and then put it back into LS1Edit.

The customer support was actually really good. I got a seperate, blank PCM to do tuning with and left the stock one alone. I shipped out the PCM and cable. He shipped it back the day after he recieved it with all the correct 2002 coding ready to use. He anwered all my emails very quickly.

Carputing has a free beta scanner. It works Ok, it doesnt look as cool as autotap though. It works though and thats what matters.

what are all the features for ls1edit and efilive? air/fuel, timing, fan temp, speedo, dtc codes (gettin ride of 02 sensor, air, egr), scannin, loggin, ect? im gonna get one of the 2, my decision is based on which one is easier to use, which one can do more with tuning, scannin, customizing, & which one is more reliable.

If you don't already have a scanner get EFIlive. Otherwise, I think LS1Edit is cheaper.
LS1Edit's "scanner" does not work for more than 5 seconds. I have tried it on two PC's and it crashes all the time.

What matters these days is having a complete package. This goes beyond just having the ability to scan. It is the additional features that make a particular package powerful and easier to tune with. These features are things like analog inputs (for logging the WB data), histograms, and filtering. LS1 Edit has none of these. EFI Live and HP are feature rich and make tuning a relatively smooth process. Try tuning a car where your WB data cannot be easily correlated to your ECM data. It will be a major PITA.

yes hptuners & efilive should both be able to read & write over the file with no problems...though I always recommend starting fresh whenever possible.

I tuned my car with LS1 Edit and used the cheesy LS1 Scan and my wideband in standalone from the tuning suite and it wasnt very difficult. Probably took as much time as it would have taken with any other software suite.

I would have gotten HPT or EFI but i got my lS1 Edit for really cheap.

I never said they were the best suite available today but for those of us who bought it when there was nothing else available, it works perfectly. All I can say is, Let the buyer do some research make their own decision. Just because you don't like a particular package doesn't mean they have to hate it also.

I will agree that current offerings are much more "slick" and user friendly but after messing with a multitude of other tuning programs, I always revert back to my LS1 Edit. I actually prefer it over many of the current offerings because it's easier for me to navigate.

As for the update, it's still in version 1.5 but I think the version number is now 1.5M or something like that. It was a minor update, not a major revision and it was released recently I believe. I got it via email from Ken not too long ago. It added a few more options above the standard 1.5 revision but I don't have my laptop handy to list them.

yeah I think ls1 edit is pretty simple to use. Not all graphical but it is easy to navigate and i think its easy to tune with because you can just use math to come up with the values you need for the most part.
