Air bag light stays lit

what do I begin checking? afraid to start messing around with abs wires. Don't want airbag to go off. Or should I just ignore the light?

Mines been on for a while too. Went on and off on turns with the steering wheel, which makes me think it's the coil spring, but I've been lazy. It eventually just stayed lit.
