Default Problems reading PCM?

Long story short is that I had the car apart and put it back together and now I cant read the PCM. The car runs fine but of coarse I wanted to make some changes. Before tearing it apart I could read it just fine. I have power to the cig lighter. I am using HPtuners with a serial cable. Could my cable/interface possibly have taken a turn for the worse? This stuff is less than a year old.

Dunno - maybe you missed a ground somewhere? If the CIG/ACCY fuse is OK I'd try probing the DLC pins with a meter - www.obdii.com/connector.html shows what they are. Hope this helps...

Well I checked the power on the plug on the car and it reads 11.88. Could there be something wrong with my cable?

Try loging another car with your cable and if it connects then its the car not the cable.

I would but I dont really have that option over here at the moment. I really doubt its the car. My thoughts would be if it were the computer it the car would not run. I am going to try a different laptop next. My best bet at this point I think.

Just in case anyone was wondering it ended up being the serial port on the other laptop. I done know exaclty what is wrong with it but everything works fine on another system.
