Default SES light flashing ???

Did a search and found one post related to this, from what i understood it seemed to be caused by misfires. I checked all my plugs, they were all fine. Would going from a 2.5" catback to 3" true duals cause my engine to run THAT much richer? I had my car tuned prior to the duals, and i'm running flat tables on everything. My o2's are deleted etc. Could this be affecting the flashing SES light? Any ideas?

you should test every plug...possibly you have a cracked ceramic on one causing it to acr over and short out..creating a misfire...

also make sure you are not melting any wires on the headers
very common when people do hearder changes for some reason

Might want to get with your tunner, or run a AutoTap and see which cylinder has the most misfires. Might point you in the right direction.

Last flashing ses light I had, #5 had the most and most active. Which turned out to be a bad piston-compression check. I am running F/I so a bit of a different game.

Good luck

definatley check the plugs them selves for physical cracks. even maybe replace them all together....
usually if you dont have any obvious things wrong the plugs are the first thing to be the culptit...

your exhaust shouldnt be causing that much difference to cause misfires....
possibly maybe one fo the coil packs is going south....
if you can get a way to run a scanner and watch for what cylinder your misfires are in you can beter diagnose it..

I could be a smart *** and say that its because you were tuned by black 02ss..LOL
but I know he does a descent job..LOL

when my 02's went they were throwing missfire codes, as soon as I fixed the 02 it never came back. It was what my tuner said to try first before I spent more money on something else.

have you got your codes read yet. that could solve a lot of your problems just knowing what to look for.

he got his o2's deleted... definitely re-check your plugs.. even if theyre new you coulda cracked the ceramic. If indeed it isnt the plugs get your coil packs checked. before doin ne of this get ahold of a obdII and get your codes read

Yeah o2's are deleted. I'm going to run a compression test on the cylinders today or tomorrow. Didn't get my codes read yet. Question: Are multi-cylinder misfire codes commonly thrown after a cam swap?

I had a set of NGK TR6 that didn't last 1000 miles. The ceramic cracked on them. It didn't run bad until I stood on the gas.

so you are running speed density tune then. there are 4 02's in our cars, just want to make sure, because most people just delete the rears and not the fronts.

No front and rears are deleted. We did it when tuning the car in worries of them being bad. I should probably go get some new ones and put them in and have them turned back on.

The o2's being deleted aren't the cause of the flashing SES. It was fine when we tuned it and has been since. It only happened after he changed his exhaust. I have done COUNTLESS cars in open loop (and SE does as well) and never had a problem.

so what are the code numbers you are flashing. Since you are tuning in open loop it defiantly has nothing to do with the 02's. Sounds like you need to get it on some software to see exactly where your problem is

Went through this issues and ended up replacing all the plugs, still flashing. Got use to it and then decided to replace the plug wires, issue fixed. Was shocked that the wires looked fine.

No, i'm not saying it was your fault chad you did an excellent job tuning the car i would recommend you to anyone, and i have, and still do for anyone in the indiana area. I had the SES light on for missfire codes immediately after the cam swap ( never flashed though ) but was informed by you it was a common code to throw after the swap and i just haven't had time to have you come delete that out like we discussed. Light also never flashed even after my TD setup was on for a few months, so i'm sure that's not the problem either. Plugs or plug wires is what i'm thinking, plan on doing a compression test this weekend just as a check up also.
