OBD code Took my '98 T/A (it has a stock LS1) in for New York State inspection, and it failed the emissions portion with a OBD code of P1415, which apparently is a manufacturer-specific code. A second check at another shop confirmed the same code. Now I must have repairs done and have it re-inspected. I heard that if you have a dealer look at it, sometimes they can delete the code ? Does anyone have any experience with this ? What should I do next ? Thanks very much in advance for responding.

I would go and get the code deleted by someone that has editing software. Either that or you can reset your computer and hope it dosent come back.

P1415 is most likely just a clogged/malfunctioning drivers side air check valve. I'd try replacing it first, you can do it yourself. GM PN is 12565503 and available for about $16? at your local parts store. Don't reset the PCM (SES light) by disconnecting the battery/pulling fuses cause that'll reset your readiness codes and you might fail for something else. After replacing the valve the light will go off by itself after a few cold starts.

I had the same code a couple years ago . As 2001nbmz28 said it was the checkvalve from the air pump were it hooks to the manifold tube . It somehow rusted shut inside. easy fix but damn those things are tight .
