Question Vehicular Crossbreeding?

i was just wondering if a computer from a different vehicle can be flashed to work in a 2001 trans am, provided the service numbers are the same?

a 99-02 should be interchangable, some 2003's may still use a 512K chip, but you will have to make sure the connectors are red/blue If it is blue/green then it is a 1mb pcm, and is not interchangable.

I have put f-car pcms into trucks, and truck pcm's into f-cars, without issue.

There are actually 2 service numbers that are interchangable as well, since the 99-00 and 01-02 have different numbers but interchange.

Dealerships don't know much about this stuff. They only know what is in the computer, and even then can't get stuff done right.

If you just need a new pcm, contact wait4me on this board, he can normally help out with those kind of requests.

well, i've already bought one from a local used parts outlet. it's just out of an '02 avalanche. if i can't get it programmed within the week, i'm gonna take it back and i'll get ahold of wait4me then.
