Default HP Tuners question...

Can I use the 02 camaro ss version to scan codes on my 03 truck?

To what extent is the software "locked" to my 02ss?

Can i read the software int he truck but just not upload any changes?

Thanks.

Yes, free of charge or need for credits

To what extent is the software "locked" to my 02ss?
if you did a single 2 credit license it just means you cant tune all 02 LS1 fbodies, you can only tune your own and you would need to license any further 02 LS1 fbodies you need to tune. Any tuner can view your current tune so nobody else is locked out of it if thats what you mean.

Can i read the software int he truck but just not upload any changes?
licensing is done upon the initial read so you would need to either vin or year lock the truck to view/edit the tune.

I believe i have the version that allows two 02 camaros to be tunned.

So your saying that i should be able to do a fresh install of the software and then read my truck? But not upload to the truck pcm?

Can i read codes and real data with the scanner?

you'd need to be more specific, they used to give you two year/group locked licenses, now have credit based system which allows you to pcm lock up to four vehicles

So your saying that i should be able to do a fresh install of the software and then read my truck? But not upload to the truck pcm?
if your using the serial interface you would need to contact sales to add the truck to your interface. If your using the usb interface you would need to license the truck if you try and read the pcm tune.

Can i read codes and real data with the scanner?
Yes

yeah it means you'll need to contact sales to purchase the license for the truck...thats the only way you'll be able to read the tune on it. Your still under the year/group locked licensing.

No ****? You have to license a PCM just to be able to read it with HTP?

Yes. Do to the fact that we support around 450 year/model combinations, perhaps quadrouple more than our nearest competitor, we cannot just let you read every single vehicle we support.

A full list of vehicles supported by HP Tuners can be found here:
http://www.hptuners.com/order.php

You won't find that type of GM support in any other tuning solution.
