Default Hp Tuners Timing?

The timing numbers are they total timing or numbers over a stock setting? I just had my STS turbo car dyno tuned and they said they could only run 10* timing. Is that 10* total, or would that be 10* over what the base timing is. Cause I'm a little old school. Idle 10*, then WOT by 3500rpm 25-30*. I've heard others running STS with nearly 18*-22* timing.

total timming there isn't really any base timming unless you move the crank sensors relative to the crank. if its says 10btdc then its 10btdc.

I find it hard to believe they could only run 10* on 6.5psi of intercooled boost.

See thats what I thought My intake temps where barely above ambient, it was like 75* out that night. Plugs are tr-6 gapped .035. Chevron 91 octane the same gas I've always used. Could the knock sensors have picked up false knock. Some others said you could de-sensitize them while on the Dyno. IF I was really running 10* how much more power would I be looking at with say 18-22*? I mean 425 and 465tq at 6.5 lbs STS doesn't seem to bad especialy on a dynapack dyno. I think I'm gonna have them re-tune it once I get my 2-bar map sensor. It was late we got off the dyno at 2 am after starting at 6pm so I was tired but I remember seeing timing as low at 1and 2*. Why would you ever run that low of timing? Whats weird too was the tuner showed me another guys turbo LS2 GTO running 22* timing putting 550 to the wheels.

If I were the tuner and you were getting a lot of knock retard I would have done the same thing, error on the safe side, unless I had the time and the customer had the money to further diagnose it. One of many possibilities, could be fuel, according to some fuel transport drivers I know, BP's 92 octane isn't always BP 92 octane now days.

Default I had the same problem

with 91 octane and 6 psi I would recomend you use alky injection!
my car with 5 psi ran 15-16 degrees of timing no problem
bump it up to 6 and it starts showing knock retard requests
like crazy. on a much cooler day 55 degrees I ran 6psi and it
would stay around 14-15 on a hotter day 80 it would start dropping
to 12-10 put meth in jection on with 6psi and it stays at 15- 16
all day long. I keep it at 5 psi and dont use alkly/meth injection
currently and its been fine!
also make sure those damn screwon tips are tight! on your plugs
I had issuses with timing and it turned out 3 plugs had loose tips.
the other guy above has a point is the 91 octane your running
actually 91 yah never really know!

I would use alky injection with that level of boost just as a safe guard!
