Default New to tuning

getting my lt1 edit whenever it ships out in a few days. im new to the tuning and im interested in it. ive been reading the ecm stickys on this site and camaroz28 and what they offer at carputing. are their any other guides out there and can someone recommend where to start out at? I was reading and i guess at first this all seems a little overwhelming. if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be helpful thanks. Also im getting my cam swaped and bigger injectors, would it be best to just get a email tune from madz28 and then try to tinker and learn, or just keep my tune now and just go at it little by little and just raise the idle to start with. thanks

If you get a wide band, change the injector sizing, raise the idle, and set the throttle blade you will be up and running in minutes! LT1 edit is user freindly as far as there tables are set up.
Try to get on a dyno for your WOT runs it is much safer than logging on the streets and you can see if your helping or hurting it.
Most shops will have a reduced price on Dyno time if you have your own software and they arent doing the tuning.

Good luck!

I use LS1 Edit and it aint too bad. When you replace the injectors all you need to do is change the injector flow rate table (IFR) to match the flow rate of your new injectors. The basics in tuning are first to turn off any ses codes that you dont want to deal with, change the cars limiters, and then start your motor tuning.

What i did was first set the PE vs RPm table to what i want to command at WOT. The you can tune the VE table in order to get your Long term Fuel trims close to Zero. Once you are close to zero then you can move onto really dialing the VE table in at WOT. You can then also add timing if you want as well, go up until you detect knock, then either back off a degree or add some fuel.

With the cam you will surely need to go a good idel tune which involves setting the idle speed as well as other values such as throttle cracker.

Do a lot of searching around here and you will find lots of great information. i learned how to tune using LS1 Edit just by reading everything i could here and then actually doing it step by step myself. Always keep a copy of your stock tune so that if you mess up bad you can just revert back to the original tune.

The best thing to learn in order to know what changes in the tune do what is to first learn how the cars PCm works and what sensors do what in order to adjust fueling and spark, ect ...

happy Tuning man.
